Snapchat debuted new ways to use its service, including paying for replays, new Lenses and more.
And now there are more new features to look forward to. Snapchat is calling the new features “Speed Modifiers,” and, as the name suggests, they’re geared towards manipulating the speed in which a video plays in the social network. Now, with videos shot on iOS (and Android), users can manipulate them with slow-motion, reward or fast-forward modifiers, letting the creativity flow.
Here’s how they break down:
- Slow-Motion: reduces the speed of your video so people can catch the little details, like a dog shaking off
- Fast-Forward: makes your video play faster, which is great for sight gags of people falling, like in the example up top
- Rewind: plays your video back at the same speed but in reverse, defying the laws of physics
On top of that, as first reported by TechCrunch, Snapchat is also adding support for 3D Touch in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Now when a user hard presses on the Snapchat app icon, they’ll be given options for adding a new friend or sending a Snap. The new update should be available now, but if not, will be rolling out today.
For those that don’t already have it, a link to download Snapchat from the iOS App Store is available below.
